mindful nature nature mindfulness

program information

program will consist of 4 classes

60 to 75 minutes each class

i am pleased to announce mindful nature/nature mindfulness the first class we are offering.

the class will be taught by dave a and is the practicum section of the MMTCP training.

we will explore various aspects of the mindfulness experience in a nature setting.

there is no necessity to travel to anywhere specific if you live in a city you will be able to participate and experience the program from the comfort of your own yard if you like.  as long as you are able to connect with nature in some way for example have trees in your yard or a small area of grass as well as being able to observe nature in your neighborhood and connect with your body.

looking at mindfulness and ways we can deepen our practice and grow our roots through connection with nature as well as create a deeper understanding with ourselves and our lives through the connection and observation of nature and it’s impermanence and changing seasons.

 

week 1 – what is mindfulness

  • introduction to meditation

  • the four aspects of practice

  • benefits of meditation

  • breath and alternative anchors

 

week 2 – mindfulness of emotions

  • not identifying and working with emotions

  • window of tolerance

  • asking yourself, “what do I need right now” or “how can I take care of myself if I can’t be with it?”

 

week 3 – the wise heart

  • looking briefly at the four brahma-viharas

  • loving kindness (met­ā)

  • compassion (karunā)

  • appreciative or sympathetic joy (muditā)

  • equanimity (upekkhā)

 

week 4 – bringing your practice to the world

  • review

  • practices

  • resources
